Drive With Uber In Mexico

The transport system in Mexico is plagued with issues surrounding a general lack of safety for passengers. Uber launched in Mexico in 2013 and presented passengers with a welcome alternative to regular cabs in the city.

With the increase in demand for Uber services worldwide, there exists a number of information sources which explain how you can become an Uber driver or Uber Owner/Entrepreneur. Unfortunately, most of these resources are focused on the U.S alone, which is troublesome for those that wish to Drive With Uber In Mexico. This particular post is aimed at making sure that no intending Uber driver or Uber partner is deprived of necessary information. This post will provide a step to step guide to help you reach your goal of becoming a driver with Uber in Mexico.

Uber In Mexico

How To Become An Uber Driver In Mexico

Don’t Forget the ‘Age-Factor’

Before we go on to give detailed steps to aid your decision to drive with Uber in Mexico, you must know that of the many important policies that Uber takes seriously, age is the most imperative and it varies for different cities. To be a driver with Uber in Mexico, you need to be at least 21 years old. If you meet this requirement, you can go on to follow the steps below:

STEP 1 – Ready Your Documents

  • A photo of you (a clear headshot)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Vehicle registration documents
  • Vehicle insurance document (if you already have a car you intend to use. Level of Insurance coverage depends on the type of Uber service you select)
  • Airport permit
  • Ensure the vehicle registration number is listed
  • All the documents above must clearly show a valid expiration date

STEP 2 – Signup Online

Once you have all of these documents, the next step is to sign up through the Uber website – using our link: www.uberkit.net/signup. (You get a signup bonus if you use our link, which has our signup referral code already pre-populated). Note – the links redirect to the correct Uber URL.

STEP 3 – Wait for Results of Tests

In places like Mexico, conducting comprehensive background checks are almost impossible. To ensure safety of passengers, Uber employs the following methods:

  • Uber devised a means of screening drivers using psychometric systems. The drivers are quizzed on various scenarios to determine how they will respond in certain situations.
  • Drug tests are also administered to drivers to eliminate drug users as drivers
  • When possible, Criminal Background Checks are also conducted.

STEP 4 – Get an Uber Approved Car

Note-if you are a driver looking to work for an existing Uber partner, ignore this section and skip to STEP-5

As for the vehicle to use, you need to make sure it fits the car requirements specifically for Uber drivers in Mexico (or your specific city). Note – Uber has various services, so you should know which service you are interested in before buying a car (if you do not have one). See the section below on “Selecting an Uber Service” for more information on that. You can also check our list on Uber Car Requirements: 580 UberX Cars Analyzed for a list of some approved cars. Some of these requirements include the fact that the car year is 2001 or newer-Uber car year requirements vary by city. It is currently year 2001 or newer in many cities. The car should also have no major cosmetic damage. Salvaged or rebuilt vehicles cannot be used, and full-size vans or marked vehicles such as taxis are a no-no as well. Also, note, whatever vehicle you get it will have to go through an Uber approved Vehicle inspection.

STEP 5 –Interview

Once you have completed the preceding steps, you will be able to go in to the Uber office for an interview, for which you should make sure you have sufficient street and route knowledge regarding your area/city. You should be dressed professionally for this interview.

If you pass the interview, you will be invited for a training session at a specific date, after which your vehicle’s documents will be checked, and you will officially become an Uber driver and/or Uber partner.

You will also receive an Uber-issued cell phone which will have the Uber application installed on it to allow you to get clients. However, if you wish to use your own smartphone, it is perfectly fine to return the cell phone.

What to do if your vehicle does not fit Uber requirements

Keep in mind, there is no need to give up, if your personal vehicle does not fit the requirements that are necessary for an Uber vehicle—in fact, many people tend to invest in a new car before becoming professional Uber drivers.

However, I would recommend not going overboard when you are purchasing a new car to be used as an Uber vehicle. It is a good idea to select an average but sturdy car that is not a particularly new or fancy model but fits Uber’s car requirements. Note – See the “Nice to Know” section for due diligence you should probably do, before buying a car specifically for Uber.

Selecting an Uber Service

UberX is the mid-tier cost Uber service, and it also gets the most patronage from Uber passengers across the globe for this reason. This is the category I would recommend starting out with. UberBLACK is a little more expensive, as you need to have a black and slightly more polished vehicle. This earns a little more money than UberX, and is a good option for people that want to earn a little more per client.

UberPOOL, UberXL and UberSUV  are other services available in Mexico. The UberPOOL service allows Uber riders going in the same destination to share a ride with one another. In that way riders can split the fare, paying lesser for  quality service.

UberXL is the 6 passenger version of UberX. It is dominated by inexpensive but nice vehicles that can carry more passengers than the UberX. You can say it is the larger version of the UberX service. Riders who request this service would typically be picked up in vehicles like these : Honda pilot, Toyota Sienna, Chevrolet Traverse, Dodge Durango, Dodge Gran.

UberSUV as well is the 6 passenger version of UberBLACK.  With this service, riders should expect to be picked up by professionally trained drivers in top-end vehicles like the Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class or Chevrolet Suburban (just to name a few).

Rates comparison

UberX-Base fare: Mex $ 7

Uber and GrabCar in Singapore

One of the major competitors of Uber in Singapore is GrabCar. GrabCar is a brainchild of the company GrabTaxi.  Uber launched operations in Singapore and other cities by providing the UberBLACK service to passengers. This presented a problem to the regular GrabTaxi operation.

GrabCar

More people seemed to prefer the use of  private luxury cars provided by UberBLACK to the branded Taxi cabs that GrabTaxi had to offer commuters. Just when passengers were starting to complain about the pricing of the UberBLACK service, Uber introduced the econmical Uber service called UberX . In response to the competition from Uber, GrabTaxi started their economical alternative service called GrabCar. In this article, we will examine a few things that set these two apart.

Differences Between Uber and GrabCar

Mode of Service

GrabCar links you up with a driver who is shown the details of the ride and can choose to reject your ride if they wish. An agreed fare is reached and you can pay with either cash, or use the GrabPay service that allows you to pay using your debit card. You are advised to tip drivers to give them the incentive to accept your ride. Also you are charged $5 for additional stops and the driver has the right to refuse you the stop.

Uber on the other hand seems to have a firm hold on their drivers. Even when they are not employees, accepting to get rides via the Uber platform means submission to a strong code of conduct which makes Uber more organized than many others. When you request an Uber ride, drivers close to your area get the request and have 15 seconds to accept or automatically forfeit the ride. They are not shown the details of the ride until they have accepted. This is to ensure that riders are not left hanging simply because drivers want to be choosy (This is a major problem with GrabCar). You mostly pay for an Uber ride with your card (although Uber has started receiving cash payments in some cities like Lagos, Nigeria). GrabCar (2)

The Uber rating system, is also one of the many things that sets Uber apart. It is a way to ensure that drivers and even riders are at their best behavior, else they would be kicked off the platform. The service allows riders to rate drivers (and vice-versa) after every ride.

Pricing

Generally,  Uber is 20% cheaper than regular Taxis in Singapore. This is why many riders and drivers prefer Uber’s services. If you want to become an Uber driver in SIngapore,  you can sign up through the Uber website – using our link: www.uberkit.net/signup .

GrabCar fares on the other are not very different from those of other taxis in Singapore. From our findings, most Reddit subscribers who use GrabCar claim they only use it to avoid hailing and also because they are scared of Uber’s surge pricing policy.

Application Interface

It is evident that the Uber mobile application is user friendly, making it quite easy for riders and drivers to use. From researching different rider-driver platforms (including Grabcar), we consider the Uber application more accessible and very user friendly.

We would appreciate your views on the post below. Thank you.

So if you wish to drive with Uber in Hong Kong, you have come to the right blog.

Uber in Hong Kong (2)

STEP 1 – Ready Your Documents

To drive with Uber in Hong Kong, you need to be at least 21 years old. Verify that, and you can then proceed to taking the steps listed below:

  •  A photo of you (a clear headshot)
  •  A valid driver’s license
  • Vehicle registration documents
  • Commercial Vehicle insurance document (if you already have  a car you intend to use)
  • Must have Third party risk insurance
    • You (driver) must be the holder, or at least a listed driver
    • Ensure the vehicle registration number is listed
    • Must clearly show a valid expiration date
  • Must have a Hire car permit.

Note-It is essential to upload very clear pictures (jpg format typically has the least issues) in which all of the numbers and information are easily visible. It is, of course, a must for the name on the documents to match your official birth name and the name you provide on the Uber signup page.

STEP 3 – Onboarding Process

After signing up and uploading the required information, all intending drivers in Hong Kong will need to go through an onboarding process. This is standard procedure which helps Uber ensure that the drivers are fully qualified and up to the standards that Uber seeks to maintain for clients.

During this process, you will register on the Uber platform as an intending Uber driver and also upload all documents mentioned above. Once completed, you will undergo the stages below:

Uber Test/Interview

All intending Uber drivers undergo a test to see how prepared they are to drive with Uber in Hong Kong. To prepare for this stage, you can seek guidance from already-employed Uber drivers.  You will be tested on your knowledge of roads in Hong Kong. It is important for Uber drivers to have impressive knowledge of routes in Hong Kong and not rely heavily on maps.

After these tests, there will be a few more interviews and some onboarding sessions.

STEP 4 – Wait for Uber Background Checks

Uber will typically take between 2 to 4 weeks to perform their background checks. Specifically, they will take the documents provided by the intending drivers in Step 1, and do the following.

  • A Comprehensive Criminal Background Check
  • Check to see if you have a clean driving record (to be sure that your license has never been revoked for any reason).

STEP 5 – Get an Uber Approved Vehicle

It is important to note that Uber has various services which require different types of vehicles. So, you should know which service you are interested in before buying a car (if you do not have one). See the section below on “Selecting an Uber Service” for more information.  For some vehicles, extra requirements are mandated depending on the type of Uber service you choose to provide or drive for. Your car will be rejected if it has major cosmetic damage or it is salvaged (was involved in a major accident and had to be fixed with parts from other vehicles or rebuilt).

Selecting an Uber Service

At this stage, you are required to select the right Uber service that suits you just fine. There are five services currently available in Hong Kong.Uber in Hong Kong (1)

UberX is the mid-tier cost Uber service, and it also gets the most patronage from Uber passengers across the globe for this reason. This is the category I would recommend starting out with. UberBLACK is a little more expensive, as you need to have a black and slightly more polished vehicle. This earns more money than UberX, and is a good option for people that want to earn more per client.

UberASSIST, 7- Seater and Tesla are other Uber services available in Hong Kong. Drivers who are allowed to drive under UberASSIST are trained to accommodate elderly riders and those with disabilities. UberASSIST allows the use of  regular UberX vehicles but must be able to accommodate folding wheelchairs, canes, strollers and walkers. This is proof of Uber’s determination towards ensuring that there is an Uber for everyone. Drivers signed up under UberASSIST can also be regular UberX drivers with a rating of atleast 4.75.

The 7 seater (e.g. Toyota Alphard, Nissan Elgrand) is perfect for a family’s picnic. With this service. there is that extra space for a  large family and other belongings. There is also the self-driving electric Tesla but this service has been temporarily halted in Hong Kong.

What to Do if Your Vehicle Does Not Fit Uber Requirements

If your personal vehicle does not fit the requirements necessary for your selected Uber service, there is no need to worry. You do not necessarily have to buy a fancy new car – a used car that meets the requirement should do. However, many people tend to invest in a new car before driving professionally with Uber in Hong Kong. This isn’t a bad idea if you have the funds. Please see the “Nice to Know” section below for relevant due diligence you should carry out if you intend to buy a car specifically for Uber. You also have the option of renting an Uber car through recommended Uber Rental Partners. You can find out more once you start the online registration process here: SIGNUP ONLINE.

STEP 6 – Uber Cell Phone

Once you have completed the preceding steps, you will have an option to receive an Uber-issued cell phone which will have the Uber driver application installed on it to grant you access to Uber passengers. However, if you wish to use your own smart phone, you will need to download the Uber app on your mobile device as this will enable you receive ride requests.

With this service, you can travel in a fancy ride and still have 5 to 6 friends come along.

The Eco friendly service, UberGREEN is also available.  This service allows Uber users to  request an eco-friendly ride (such as a 100% electric BMWi3 at UberX prices.

With the UberBerline ,  you enjoy the services of a professional driver in an elegant car. This service is similar to the UberBLACK service as vehicles under this service are high end vehicles with black exteriors and black leather interiors. Passengers should expect to be picked up in cars like the BMW 7 Series or Audi A8 vehicles (to name a few). If you have a professional appointment, a romantic evening or just want to arrive with elegance, this option is for you. Drivers in this category earn more per ride than other Uber services in Paris.

READ THIS POST Before You Quit Your Uber Business

I guess by now you should have tangible reasons why
you want to quit your Uber Uber Business (2)business either as a
Driver or Partner. Bearing in mind that you know some of the  benefits attached to becoming an Uber driver/ entrepreneurI will not give you more details about the conspicuous advantages of Uber. However, I implore you to READ THIS POST before you quit your Uber business. There  might just be some pertinent facts you overlooked or failed to notice as an Uber driver/ Partner.  Let this post be a reminder or an eye-opener for you:

The Fact that Uber is not a “9-5”.

Notwithstanding the fact that it is now cliché to recognize driving with Uber as a job, it clearly isn’t. The fact that you get paid for services rendered doesn’t qualify the Uber system as a job in which Uber is the employer and drivers the employed. It is an opportunity to be your own boss (a business where you are an independent contractor with flexible working hours). Uber, like every other business needs to be monitored effectively to increase revenue and ensure profitability. You may be considering  quitting your Uber business because of low profit margins but not to worry we at uberkit.net have got you covered by providing necessary information and tips on how to grow your Uber business and increase your Return On Investment which in turn will keep your business profitable. You might not see reasons to quit anymore when you your Uber business is profitable.

The Flexibility of Your Business

Most jobs and businesses have a very strict schedule that must be followed daily in order for activities to go well. That is not quite applicable to your Uber Business especially as an Uber driver. I guess you have a pretty good idea of how Uber works in terms of flexibility, so we can conclude that this point simply serves as a reminder. Not many businesses that I know of (I stand to be corrected- you can do that by lending your voice in the comment box below) allows such latitude in scheduling. Uber has made it possible for drivers to have primary control of their business activities. You can decide when you work, where you go, and whom you pick up. Learning to take advantage of this scheduling freedom could be a great way of keeping your Uber business while running other activities/ businesses.

Recruitment Bonuses

Most Uber Partners understand the Uber’s recruitment bonus system, while others are oblivious to it.Uber Business (1) You will get a recruitment bonus when you signup new passengers or by recruiting other drivers to sign up for the service.

Referral bonuses are beneficial to your business and other partners on the Uber platform. By increasing demands for rides , you are improving the pool of passengers available to yourself and other drivers, and also getting a referral commission. Your referral code is very easy to get. You can even create business cards that include your referral code and information about Uber. Hand out these business cards to potential users, who will get a discount on their first trip when they sign up.

Recruitment bonuses help you earn extra money without spending more hours driving.

A new business will involve effort and commitment to be successful. Even a successful business still requires effort to maintain and upgrade. To be honest, there is no job or Business that doesn’t require a certain level of hard work and patience. Is Quitting Your Uber Business a good decision right now?

FYI – Uberkit.net is looking to convert some of our Non-US Uber Driver referral commission. If you are looking to make more money as an Uber Driver/Partner, and are looking to partner with Uberkit to make passive referral income for Non-US blog traffic (India, Australia and Nigeria) email us at inquiries@uberkit.net with the subject line “Referral partnerships with Uberkit.net”.

Pricing

With UberSELECT, riders should expect luxury but at an affordable price. The fare for UberSELECT is just slightly more expensive than the regular UberX  but not as high as the UberBLACK service.  The UberBLACK fare is commensurate to the service that riders will receive and it’s also priced to reward drivers for their efforts.

These are essentially the basic differences between the UberSELECT service and the UberBLACK service.

Schedule Your Uber Taxi Rides with Our New App, Kommen

In a bid to make getting around even easier for commuters across the world, we introduced our Uber Taxi scheduling app called Kommen.  Our new app which was released on the Andriod platform on April 17th 2016, allows Uber users book their rides ahead of time. This could be seen as an Uber Taxi Kommenimprovement to the on-demand rideshare industry. With Kommen, you do not need to wait till the 11th hour to get an Uber ride, you could conveniently book an Uber ride in advance (up to a month) with the use of our new user friendly app.

So why should you schedule your rides with our new app, you may ask?

A few reasons are listed below:

Kommen Helps the Busy

In the business world, you can get swamped with keeping appointments in various parts of the city.  You not only worry about the impending appointments but you also worry about getting there and not running late. In addition to the Uber app that lets you call a ride right froKommenm your office, our new app (Kommen) allows you schedule the trip ahead of time. You get a prompt reminder once the ride it’s on its way as well. Convenient isn’t it? With the automated scheduling service Kommen provides, you can now focus on the task at hand and let Kommen worry about getting that ride to your door.

Kommen is Your Backup

In an unstable world where the only thing guaranteed is the present, Kommen gives you a backup option. Kommen helps ensure that you are covered in critical situations – instances where your phone battery is fast running out or you need a ride and discover you do not have sufficient network coverage. When you schedule your rides, you are sure that your trip details are safely tucked away with a ride guaranteed as scheduled.

Kommen is an Improvement

Kommen is a spectacular improvement in the way Uber users request rides. You can also consider our app an extra reminder for your events as well ,since your ride reminder acts as an event reminder of sorts. Although fairly new, the app is proving reliable and its just what many have been looking for. Our new app will help ensure promptness, readiness and extra smoothness in how Uber works for riders.

This is a step ahead for Uber users and in the nearest future, we might see newer features on the app that are targeted at making ride hailing for users quite simpler than it is right now.

Kommen is Available

Our new app is available only on the Android platform for now, but will be available on the IOS and windows platform also. To get a notification when we become available for downloads on IOS, click here:www.trykommen.com/

To download Kommen go here: www.trykommen.com

Where You Can Schedule an Uber Taxi with Kommen

As long as Uber is available in your neighborhood, and we support the Uber service you are looking for, we will schedule a ride for you. Drive with Uber in Bogota, Colombia

If you wish to drive with Uber in Bogota – Colombia, you have come to the right blog! This post is aimed at making sure that every intending Uber driver or Uber partner is provided with the right information to aid their decision to drive with Uber.

Drive with Uber in Colombia

Fortunately, this is not a complicated process. It requires completing some necessary steps within a reasonable period of time to make you eligible to drive with Uber in Bogota.

Before we dive right in, let’s talk about Uber’s ultimate requirement –

The ‘Age-Factor’

Before you can drive with Uber in Bogota – Colombia, you must know that Uber takes its age policy pretty seriously. This age policy varies for different cities. To join Uber as a driver in Bogota, you have to be at least 21 years old. If you meet this requirement, please proceed to fulfil the steps listed below:

STEP 1 – Ready Your Documents

  • A valid driver’s license
  • Vehicle registration documents
  • Vehicle insurance document (if you already have a car you intend to use)
  • Commercial vehicle insurance for UberBlack drivers
  • You (driver) must be the holder of the above, or at least a listed driver
  • Ensure the vehicle registration number is listed
  • Documents must clearly show a valid expiration date

Note-It is essential to upload very clear pictures (jpg format typically has the least issues) in which all of the numbers and information on the pictures are very visible.  The name on the documents must match your official birth name and the name you provide on the Uber signup page.

STEP 2 – Onboarding Process

Once you have the above numerated documents ready, the next step is to sign up through the Uber website – using our link: www.uberkit.net/signup. (You get a signup bonus if you use our link, which has our signup referral code already pre-populated).

After signing up and uploading the required information, anyone who wishes to drive with Uber in Bogota will need to go through an onboarding process. Uber uses this process as a means to ensure that all intending drivers are qualified and up to the standards that Uber seeks to maintain.

Subsequently, you will be tested on all of the general knowledge that Uber drivers are expected to have. You can prepare for this by asking already-employed Uber drivers for advice on what you should know for these tests. It is expected that as an aspiring Uber driver in Bogota, you should have great knowledge of the routes in Bogota without relying a great deal on maps. This knowledge is a must have for every intending Uber driver.

After these tests, there will be a few more interviews and some onboarding sessions.

STEP 3 – Wait for Uber Background Checks

Uber will typically take between 2 to 4 weeks to perform their background checks. Specifically they will take the documents provided in Step 1 and do the following.

  • A comprehensive criminal background check
  • Check to see if you have a clean driving record (to be sure that your license has never been revoked for any reason).

STEP 4 – Get an Uber Approved Vehicle

It is important to note that Uber has various services which require different types of vehicles. You should decide on which of the services you are interested in before buying a car (if you do not have one). See the section below on “Selecting an Uber Service” for more information. Your car will be rejected if it has major cosmetic damage or it is salvaged (was involved in a major accident and had to be fixed with parts from other vehicles or rebuilt). There might be some extra requirements (besides the general) depending on the type of Uber service you choose.

Selecting an Uber Service

Selecting an Uber service is largely dependent on figuring out which one of the available services you can afford.

UberX is the mid-tier priced Uber service, and it also gets the most patronage from Uber passengers across the globe for this reason. This is the category I would recommend starting out with. UberBLACK is a little more expensive, as you need to have a polished high priced sedan with a black exterior. This earns a little more money than UberX, and is a good option for people that want to earn a little more per client.

UberPOOLUberVAN, and UberANGEL are other Uber services available in Bogota. The UberPOOL service allows Uber riders going in the same destination share a ride with one another. In that way, riders can split the fare – thereby paying less for quality service. UberVAN on the other hand is not only dominated by pricey and classy vehicles, but also has its focus on vehicles that are more spacious than the other Uber services. With this service, you can travel in a fancy ride and still have 5 to 6 friends come along.

The uncommon service, UberANGEL is made available to assist Bogota citizens get home or to any other destination in their vehicles when they feel incapacitated to drive. UberANGEL would come in handy situations where a person is too drunk drive after a friend’s party but needs to get home in your car.  You can hail an UberANGEL and Uber’s (sober) driver will take you home in your own car.  This service costs 10,000 Colombian pesos (about $4.50 U.S.), with no additional fees per minute or distance.

What to Do if Your Vehicle Does Not Fit Uber Requirements

If your personal vehicle does not fit the requirements that are necessary for an Uber vehicle, it’s not a problem. You do not necessarily have to buy a fancy new car – a used car that meets the requirements of your selected service should do. However, many people tend to invest in a new car before driving professionally with Uber in Bogota. This isn’t a bad idea if you have the funds. Please see the “Nice to Know” section below for due diligence you should probably carry out if you intend to buy a car specifically for Uber. You also have the option of renting an Uber Car through recommended Uber Rental Partners. You can find out more once you begin the online registration process here: SIGNUP ONLINE.

STEP 5 – Uber Cell Phone

Once you have completed the preceding steps, you will have an option to receive an Uber-issued cell phone which will have the Uber driver application installed on it to give you access to Uber riders. However, if you wish to use your own smart phone, that is perfectly fine. You can read more on how to download the Uber driver app here

Nice to Know

If you want to drive with Uber in Bogota, Colombia, it is important to know that you will have to bear the cost of car related expenses like fuel, car maintenance, insurance costs, car depreciation, Uber royalties and other maintenance related expenses. If you want to assess the profitability of Uber – whether as a one man business (a sole Uber driver); or as an Entrepreneur with multiple Uber cars in his/her fleet, then you need to download either of our Uber Kits at the top right corner of the pages below:

That’s all there is to being an Uber driver in Bogota, Colombia. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
