Uber for Business is a one stop travel solution for companies. In Uber’s words,” It’s a digital headquarters for all your company’s ground transportation”.  Arranging travel for your business and other stakeholders can be such a hassle. With Uber Business, you will be letting the transport giant worry about getting you and your people places while you focus on making profits.

Uber has always being concerned with creating a world where transportation and commute is as seamless as running water. Uber has a knack for introducing various services that add color to consumer experience.  The rideshare giant provides a plethora of services to meet the needs of commuters. All services launched by Uber aim at making commuting from one place to the other easier.

The various Uber services include UberX, which is the mid-tier cost Uber service; UberBLACK – the most expensive and classiest service with black high-end vehicles; UberXL – the 6 passenger version of UberX; UberSELECT – the service that sits between the UberX and the UberBLACK services; then the UberSUV – which is the 6 passenger version of UberBLACK. Some cities offer a variation of these services to suit their markets.

To ensure organizations enjoy the same services available to other Uber users, Uber for business is also offering all Uber products on the platform including its luxurious services like the  UberBLACK and the UberSUV products.

How Uber for Business Works

It’s quite easy. Just the way Uber has a mobile application where riders can request rides and see all their activities, Uber for business allows users access to a centralized dashboard where they can manage their organization’s transportation needs.

Via the dashboard, users can

  • View all trip activity for passengers the organization has catered for their transportation via the Uber for business platform
  • View and manage expensing, billing and other financial reports
  • Set up ride schedules for employees
  • Review trips
  • Manage all your organization’s local travel from one place
  • Send out multiple rides at once and monitor them from one dashboard.

Pricing

Just like how Uber charges Uber drivers commission on every ride, Uber will charge organizations on the Uber for business platform 10% on each ride placed on the platform.

How Rideshare Network Works

Over the years, rideshare has taken on various forms but still with the same aim; to simplify transportation while reducing greenhouse emissions and traffic congestion in our cities. Rideshare has become a popular mode of transportation all over the world. To ensure seamless transportation, bikes, trucks, and even rickshaws are being used to simplify commute, decongest roads and reduce carbon footprints.

Carpooling is also a great way of decongesting roads. Many cities are enforcing HOV (High Occupancy Vehicles) rules where roads have dedicated lanes for these vehicles. In a bid to provide smart carpooling solutions, Rideshare Network debuted its services.

How Rideshare Network Works Rideshare Network

Using a simple website and an interconnected system, Rideshare Network arranges shared rides in Canada and in the US. Users can arrange rides via the platform, chat with other users, read rider reviews and driver reviews before making ride arrangements.

The company currently operates in North America and is looking to expand its services using Nodes.

What are Nodes?

According to Rideshare Network, “a node is a separate Rideshare site for your area”. Cities and towns that require ridesharing in their area will have a separate site created for them; but it is named after the city or region and has the region in the URL e.g  (https://yourtown.ride-share.org).

To Request Rides

  • Visit the website
  • Enter your location and destination
  • Indicate if you will be a rider or driver
  • Register on the Rideshare Network using your Facebook account or email.

Please note the following:

  • A chat application is available for users to communicate
  • Drivers and riders arrange trip costs and gas money before trip begins
  • Users are asked to rate their experience
Safety

Rideshare Network does not perform checks on users, so riders and drivers need to be very careful and observe a few safety checks before agreeing to a ride.

  • Ensure you meet your ride companion in a public space before getting into the car
  • Read ride reviews
  • Enquire about the condition of the car
  • Ask for references
  • Ensure that the driver is approved to ride on the platform
  • Be alert

Cities are benefiting from the impact of rideshare. It has provided more convenient ways of commuting and also, the number of jobs that rideshare services create are providing alternative streams of income for households. Rideshare has taken on various forms including carpooling and even car sharing and riders now know they have various options to choose from. These vehicles are either two-passenger vehicles, the Mercedes Benz GLA or the Mercedes Benz CLA. In the past, the service had to withdraw its smart cars from certain cities like London and San Diego due to a dearth of charging stations. Smart cars in these locations were replaced by gasoline powered cars.

Why Uber in Philippines Suspended Operations

Uber has always been known as a force to be reckoned with. The company is popular for employing a dominating approach as it enters a new city. This stance however, didn’t seem to work for Uber in Philippines. In the past, Uber had taken on state governments in big cities around the world such as Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey, Austin and Pennsylvania over a number of issues. The company has come under fire for many reasons including fingerprinting drivers, driver classification and even friction with local cabbies. Uber in Philippines

Uber in Philippines suspends operations

Uber faced similar backlash in Philippines when it came to registering drivers. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in the country mandated Uber and other rideshare companies to ensure their drivers and partners must apply for permits before registering as drivers. The permits included:

  • PA (Provisional Authority) – is a temporary permit to operate as a TNVS, valid for 45 days and renewable for up to 135 days
  • CPC (Certificate of Public Convenience) – is an official permit to operate as a TNVS, valid for 1 year and renewable for up to 7 years.

Due to the large number of drivers applying for permits, the LTFRB had to deal with backlogs and asked rideshare companies to stop registering drivers so that the backlogs could be cleared. It was reported that the companies refused to stop registering drivers and were fined about $100,000 each. After it appeared that Uber still didn’t comply with stipulated regulations, the company was banned for a month and asked to “cease and desist” operations.

Uber in Philippines went on to suspend its service after the ban, citing the company’s displeasure with the Regulatory Board’s stance.

In March 2018, Uber announced that it will be exiting Southeast Asia. The rideshare giant sold its stake in the region to Singapore based, Grab signaling the end of Uber in Southeast Asia. It seemed Uber’s decision to suspend its services in the Philippines is congruent with the company’s sales of its stake in South-East Asia.

What we think

If you stand to gain more by selling off struggling operations and making strong partnerships, then by all means, do so. Grab has a stronger hold in Southeast Asia where its food delivery, carpooling, cashless payments and bike share services are available in 191 cities. UberEATS and Uber’s ridehailing services will now be available on Grab’s app.

More About Haxi Rideshare

By disrupting the global transportation sector, Uber introduced a simpler way to commute without the hassles of traditional taxi hailing. There is a reason why the rideshare behemoth continues to dominate the transportation industry while new entrants scramble to topple Uber’s position. Now, the Uber business model is being incorporated into other forms of rideshare. Uber competitors are forming community based rideshare services to meet the needs of people within a town or city.

Haxi rideshare is one of such community based rideshare services. With Haxi, users who need rides can request rides from registered community drivers.

More about Haxi Rideshare

Haxi rideshare is based in London with presence in other cities including Norway and Denmark. The service has since grown from 3,000 drivers and 42,000 users in 2014 to over 12,000 drivers and 100,000 users in 2017.

Haxi began as a “supplement to public transportation” but has since become a preferred mode of commuting for its users. Haxi Rideshare

More About The Uber Hands-Free Feature

For any rideshare company, rider and driver safety should be paramount. Uber as a pioneer in ridesharing has become a preferred means of transportation for many. Uber drivers and Uber passengers who have signed up to use the Uber service are matched once a ride request is placed. This makes Uber a middleman between these two parties. Uber, in its bid to protect both parties created a plethora of in-app features to protect passengers and drivers.

There is also a need to keep updating and renewing these safety features. This is to ensure that all parties involved feel some level of comfort in knowing that there are features designed to ensure safety. In September 2018, Uber introduced more safety features.

Uber announced that, “we’re raising the bar on safety by unveiling new features that will help protect all our customers and the information they entrust to us.” These features will include ride check, a feature that helps ensure that all parties are okay in the event of a crash; driver emergency button; address anonymization and hands-free pickups. Uber Hands-Free

In this post, we will shed more light on the Uber hands-free feature.

Uber Hands-Free Feature

It is important for drivers to focus on the road ahead while driving. Many accidents have occurred on the road due to text-driving which is why Uber is trying to reduce distractions that Uber drivers may face. With the introduction of the hands-free feature, Uber will be testing voice activated commands to ensure seamless pick-up of riders.

This way drivers can communicate with riders without taking their hands and eyes off the wheel. The Uber hands-free feature will allow drivers accept trips on the go.

Conclusion

The Uber hands-free feature is a welcome development. It’s important that drivers adhere to road rules while keeping other road users safe. It’s good to see Uber taking a firmer approach to driver and rider safety. We look forward to more updates from Uber.

Drive With Uber In Missouri

Uber has experienced push-back from Missouri legislators in the past for its lax nature when it comes to registering drivers. House reps have pushed for stricter laws to regulate rideshare companies in the state and although it didn’t yield much results, Uber remained dedicated on focusing on the economic impact its service will have on the state. Now the company now offers its services in both Northern and Southern Missouri.

If you want to drive with Uber in Missouri, this post is for you. Driving with Uber is one way to earn additional income.  It affords flexible hours and a chance to make good money on your own schedule. Follow the steps below and you will be well on your way to become an Uber driver in Missouri.

The ‘Age-Factor’

Before you can drive with Uber in Missouri, you must know that Uber takes its age policy pretty seriously. This age policy varies for different cities. To become an Uber driver in Missouri, you have to be at least 21 years old. If you meet this requirement, please proceed to fulfil the steps listed below:

STEP 1 – Ready Your Documents

  • Must have a photo (clear headshot)
  • Drivers aged 21 or 22 must have (at minimum) 3 years of valid licensing in the USA
  • Drivers aged 23 (and up) must have at least one year of valid licensing in the USA
  • Drivers must pass a screening process (details below)
  • Drivers must have an accepted vehicle (check below for additional info)
  • At some point during registration, you would also have to take your car through vehicle inspection at an Uber-approved auto shop or Uber activation center in your area
  • Vehicle insurance document (if you already have a car you intend to use)
  • You (driver) must be the holder of the above, or at least a listed driver
  • Ensure the vehicle registration number is listed
  • Uber accepts both official and temporary registration documents.
  • The vehicle does not need to be registered in your name to qualify.
  • Documents must clearly show a valid expiration date

Note-It is essential to upload very clear pictures (jpg format typically has the least issues) in which all of the numbers and information on the pictures are very visible.  The name on the documents must match your official birth name and the name you provide on the Uber signup page.

Uber In Missouri

STEP 2 – Signup

After you have gathered these documents and met the above requirements, you can move to the next step which is to signup online. The documents that you have gathered are what you would have to submit online. You can go here to sign up with our special referral link. This link redirects to the Uber official signup page.

STEP 3 – Uber in Missouri Background Check and On-Boarding Process

Uber conducts a detail criminal and background check on all intending drivers. Specifically they will take the documents provided in Step 1 and do the following.

  • A comprehensive criminal background check
  • Check to see if you have a clean driving record (to be sure that your license has never been revoked for any reason).

Subsequently, you will be tested on all of the general knowledge that Uber drivers are expected to have. You can prepare for this by asking already-employed Uber drivers for advice on what you should know for these tests. It is expected that as an aspiring Uber driver in Missouri, you should have great knowledge of the routes in the city you want to drive in without relying a great deal on maps. This knowledge is a must have for every intending Uber driver. After these tests, there will be a few more interviews and some on-boarding sessions.

STEP 4 – Get an Uber Approved Vehicle

It is important to note that Uber has various services which require different types of vehicles. You should decide on which of the services you are interested in before buying a car (if you do not have one). See the section below on “Selecting an Uber Service” for more information. Your car will be rejected if it has major cosmetic damage or it is salvaged (was involved in a major accident and had to be fixed with parts from other vehicles or rebuilt). There might be some extra requirements (besides the general) depending on the type of Uber service you choose. For Uber in Missouri, please note that your vehicle has to be a 4-door vehicle and must be 15-year-old vehicle or newer.

Selecting an Uber Service

Selecting an Uber service is largely dependent on figuring out which one of the available services you can afford. In Uber in Missouri, you have a choice between the non-commercial UberX, UberXL and UberSELECT. UberX, UberXL and UberSELECT are the lower level services with more commuters – since they are affordable.

UberX is the mid-tier priced Uber service, and it also gets the most patronage from Uber passengers across the globe for this reason. This is the category I would recommend starting out with. UberSELECT can be found in the same class as the UberX services but it is a step above the UberX. UberSELECT vehicles are classy entry level luxury cars (but not as nice as UberBLACK vehicles). Drivers in this service have ratings of 4.75 and above. UberXL is the 6 passenger version of UberX. It is dominated by inexpensive but nice vehicles that can carry more passengers than the UberX. You can say it is the larger version of the UberX service. Riders who request this service would typically be picked up in vehicles like these: Honda pilot, Toyota Sienna, Chevrolet Traverse, Dodge Durango, Dodge Gran.

What to Do if Your Vehicle Does Not Fit Uber Requirements

If your personal vehicle does not fit the requirements that are necessary for an Uber vehicle, it’s not a problem. You do not necessarily have to buy a fancy new car – a used car that meets the requirements of your selected service should do. However, many people tend to invest in a new car before driving professionally with Uber in Missouri. This isn’t a bad idea if you have the funds. Please see the “Nice to Know” section below for due diligence you should probably carry out if you intend to buy a car specifically for Uber. You also have the option of renting an Uber Car through recommended Uber Rental Partners. You can find out more once you begin the online registration process here: SIGNUP ONLINE.

STEP 5 – Uber Cell Phone

Once you have completed the preceding steps, you will have an option to receive an Uber-issued cell phone which will have the Uber driver application installed on it to give you access to Uber riders. However, if you wish to use your own smart phone, that is perfectly fine. You can read more on how to download the Uber driver app here.

Nice to Know

If you want to drive with Uber in Missouri, it is important to know that you will have to bear the cost of car related expenses like fuel, car maintenance, insurance costs, car depreciation, Uber royalties and other maintenance related expenses. If you want to assess the profitability of Uber – whether as a one man business (a sole Uber driver); or as an Entrepreneur with multiple Uber cars in his/her fleet, then you need to download either of our Uber Kits at the top right corner of the pages below:

That’s all you need to know about becoming an Uber driver in Missouri.

What To Know About Flywheel Rideshare

The Uber business model for operating a ridesharing business has been copied by many other budding companies. The model seems to work as evidenced by the company’s growth over the years. As much as ridesharing is convenient and affordable, local taxi companies feel like rideshare companies enjoy an unfair advantage as they are not as regulated as the traditional taxi industry.

Now, this model is being used to meet the needs of local taxi companies. Flywheel rideshare service is pooling local taxis in one place via the Flywheel app to help riders request taxis conveniently.

More About Flywheel rideshare

Based in the Bay Area, the e-hailing app is designed to cater to both riders and drivers. Riders will download the app to be able to request rides. For registered local taxi drivers, the smartphone based service will act as an operating system to help get more rides and provide a smart metering service.

Flywheel currently operates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, Sacramento, and Portland. The service just launched operations in New York and will be servicing the city’s yellow taxis and giving them the opportunity to compete with the likes of Uber.

How Flywheel rideshare works for riders

To begin, follow the steps below:

  • Download the app
  • Create an account
  • Enter payment method
  • Then, request rides
  • The apps will match you with local cabs around you

The service allows you track your driver’s arrival via the app and you can check your driver’s ETA.

For Drivers

Registering with Flywheel will give drivers more riders as the app will help pool riders located around you. Drivers will also be paid quickly via Flywheel’s DirectPay system. Drive when you want and on your own schedule.
