Uber Services: All About UberGO

As we know, Uber has gained quite a reputation as a revolutionary in the transportation sector by creating seamless travel and decongesting roads through ride-sharing. With various services that satisfy diverse customers’ need, Uber is fast becoming a household name.

No matter your need, Uber has tried to meet it by introducing different Uber services. They include: UberX, which is the mid-tier cost Uber service; UberBLACK – the most expensive and classiest service with black high-end vehicles; UberXL – the 6 passenger version of UberX; UberSELECT – the service that sits between the UberX and the UberBLACK services; then the UberSUV – which is the 6 passenger version of UberBLACK. Some cities offer a variation of these services to suit their markets. One of these variations is the UberGO service. In this post, we will shed some light on UberGO and in which markets you will find this service. UberGO

More About UberGO

UberGO is a chauffeur driven hatchback currently available in India. This is the cheapest Uber service worldwide and is even said to be cheaper than the price of riding in an auto rickshaw and the popular UberX.

The typical UberGO vehicle is a small 4 seater hatchback car that is big enough to carry 4 passengers and has air conditioning. However, this car is not large enough to carry too much luggage.

Uber announced in one of the company’s blogs that, “We are excited to announce the launch of UberGO; a spanking new range of low cost, chauffeur-driven hatchbacks (think Etios Liva) that roll onto the streets of every Uber city in India today. For this launch, drivers are able to connect to the Uber platform using devices provided by our technology partner, Huawei.”

Other vehicles that can be found under the UberGO category are Maruti Ritz and Maruti Swift.

Uber launched in India with the UberBLACK service which is considered Uber’s classiest and priciest service. It was inevitable that other affordable services would be introduced into India. India is a populous country with a huge number of people living below poverty line. People needed services that they can afford hence; the UberGO and UberX services.

We hope to see this service in other populous countries all over the world soon.

Pathao vs Uber: Rideshare In Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a densely populated country of over 160 million people making it the most densely populated large country in the world. It is safe to say that commuters will have a hard time in traffic and the country will benefit from rideshare. Rideshare companies aim to reduce the number of cars on the road especially in populous countries where traffic can be nightmarish. Therefore, the launch of rideshare companies like Uber and Pathao will go a long way in easing traffic congestion in Bangladesh.

Uber launched in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh on the 22nd of November, 2016. With presence in over 400 cities worldwide, the congested city of Bangladesh is the next city to experience the revolution that Uber introduces to the transport sector. Uber has teamed up with Bangladesh’s largest mobile operator, Grameenphone to reach Dhaka’s 18 million population.

Uber currently has 3 services operating in Dhaka. They include UberMOTO, UberX and UberPREMIER. UberMOTO is Uber’s motorbike service while UberX is the mid-tier cost affordable Uber service. Uber charges a Base Fare of 30 Tk for the UberMOTO service and a Base Fare of 40 Tk for the UberX service.  Pathao

Passengers can request car rides and get picked up from any location. UberPREMIER launched in 2017 to meet the needs of riders who want to ride in style and plush comfort. This service delivers service in superior quality sedans with professionally trained driver partners. Uber charges a Base Fare of 80 Tk for this service.

Pathao, on the other hand provides bike services to passengers in Bangladesh with promises to bring car services to the city of Dhaka soon. Pathao rides are currently available in only Dhaka and Chittagong with goals to expand to other major cities.

How To Use Pathao

  • Download the Pathao App from Google Playstore and iOS App Store
  • Sign up with your mobile number (The app is free to use)

OLA In India Takes On Uber With OLA Play

Last year, Uber’s fierce rival Ola, launched an in-ride entertainment platform called Ola Play in India. The aim of this innovative feature is to make long rides more entertaining and luxurious. Ola partnered with Qualcomm to build interactive devices mounted in cars. This device called Ola Play, boasts touch-screen hardware with two consoles –one for the driver and another for the passenger. Passengers can sync their phones with the device to listen to music and also watch all they want online.

This seems like a response to Uber’s partnership with Spotify that allows passengers play their playlists on Spotify as they travel. Granted, Uber’s innovation isn’t as integrating as Ola’s Ola Play but it seems Uber is not completely off track. It doesn’t seem like this move on the part of Ola is a real game changer as people will always look out for the best price especially in an emerging market like India.

The rideshare company that can offer the basic needs at the most affordable price will surely take the cake. India is a huge market and Uber and Ola are presently fighting a turf war with Ola currently winning in the country. Ola currently controls over 60 percent of the Indian market and growing. Can this success be attributed to the in-ride entertainment? Obviously not.

Ola is a home grown rival while Uber is a global phenomenon. It is only fair that Ola will enjoy more patronage since it launched in Mumbai 3 years before Uber came into the scene.

However, Uber boasts a higher presence globally than Ola and is more concerned in growing it’s footprint across the world. In a show of power, Uber recently launched in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh on the 22nd of November, 2016. |

Ola PlayWith presence in over 400 cities worldwide, the congested city of Bangladesh is the next city to experience the revolution that Uber introduces to the transport sector. Uber has teamed up with Bangladesh’s largest mobile operator, Grameenphone to reach Dhaka’s 18 million population. Unlike in most American cities, Uber will accept cash payments as well as card payments. This is a strategy that Uber initiates in emerging markets in order to reach the percentage of unbanked populace.

Uber will continue to face fierce rivalry from competitors. It’s up to the rideshare giant to devise new and innovative ways to keep customers satisfied.

Uber Rival – Namma Tygr App To Launch In India

Uber and Ola in India are currently enjoying successes as the top players in the taxi industry. This has always been a source of displeasure for taxi drivers and other taxi companies. Uber and Ola drivers are not subjected to the same regulations as traditional drivers. Despite this, most Uber and Ola drivers are unhappy as they believe the rideshare giants are taking too much off their earnings. Uber drivers have requested for more benefits and less commission taken off their earnings. This saw former Uber and Ola drivers’ band together to launch a new app called Namma Tygr app that hopes to provide cheaper alternatives to commuters who have been ripped off by other cab aggregators.

The company is backed by Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and will be called Namma Tygr app formerly HDK Cabs. The app launched on the 31st of October, 2017.  The company is registered as ‘Huli Technologies started by the former Uber, TaxiForSure and Ola (UTO) Drivers and Owners Association. The association partnered with Savetur Digital Private Limited to launch and operate the Namma Tygr app. Namma Tygr App

Namma Tygr app founders have stated it will claim a commission of 12% for every ride. Drivers will also enjoy great benefits like accidental and vehicle insurance. The company claims that over 8,000 drivers have applied and undergone verification. There will be no shared service like the UberPOOL offered by Uber.

The News Minute blog quoted the company saying “After Bengaluru, we will start our operations in Mysuru and then Mangaluru. We plan to launch all over India in the coming years”. “We expect that drivers currently attached with existing cab aggregators will join us. We are giving better facilities to the drivers at a very small percentage of commission”.

Drivers are being trained in batches of 15-20 at the company’s headquarters in Indira Nagar. They are being given training on app installation, downloading and other service operations. Drivers will also enjoy Rs 2 lakh in medical insurance cover and there will be 10 emergency-patrol vehicles to support both drivers and customers all around the clock.

Passengers Benefits

Surge pricing has always been a bone of contention between rideshare companies and passengers. The comoany has promised that passengers will enjoy fixed prices with no surge pricing or any other hidden fees.

The Namma Tygr App will offer services in Mumbai, Kolkata, Ranchi and Indore. The company hopes to see more Uber and Ola drivers signup with the service. Passengers can request a mini hatchback option at Rs 12.50 per km and a sports sedan utility vehicle option at Rs 18.50 per km.

Uber launched operations in India by introducing the luxury service called UberBLACK. This service ensures Uber riders are picked up in luxurious vehicles driven by professional drivers. UberBLACK was available in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai before Uber restricted the service to just Mumbai.

If you wish to drive with UberBLACK in India, we have provided all you need to know below.Uber in India

First of all, you will need to prepare a few documents that are essential for you to have before you can drive with Uber in India as an UberBLACK driver. These documents include:

  • A Driver’s License
  •  Commercial driving license
  • A Delhi PSV badge or up-to-date Police Verification.
  • An RC – Registration Certificate (if you already have a car, else see Get an UberBLACK Car’ section below)
  • Personal details like a permanent address, contact details, bank account details and a Permanent Account Number, or PAN, that allows India’s tax authorities to deduct revenues from pay packets
  • Full commercial vehicle insurance
  • Government issued IDs
  • State-issued permits

STEP 2: Signup Online

Once you have all of these documents, the next step is to sign up through the Uber website – using our link: www.uberkit.net/signup. (You get a signup bonus if you use our link, which has our signup referral code already pre-populated).

STEP 3: Wait for Uber Background Checks

It will typically take between 6 to 8 weeks to perform  background checks on Intending Uber in India drivers. Specifically, they will take the documents submitted by every candidate, and conduct a comprehensive criminal background check.

STEP 4: Get an Approved UberBLACK Car

UberBLACK cars need to have an all-black exterior with black, grey or beige leather interior. Whatever type of car you pick; it generally needs to be a model from the year 2012 or newer. A typical UberBLACK car must have a minimum width of 1700mm and must be Uber approved. The type of qualifying sedans for UberBLACK include the Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sunny Altis, Innova, Honda City, Ecosport. You can check the list here for an analysis of UberBLACK cars and what we recommend.

STEP 5: Go for Your Interview

Once you have completed the preceding steps, you will be able to go into the Uber office for an interview, but you should make sure you have sufficient knowledge of the streets and routes in your area/city. You should be dressed professionally for this interview.

If you pass the interview, you will be invited for a training session at a specific date (Training takes between three to six hours, based on interviews with Uber drivers), after which your vehicle’s documents will be checked, and you will officially drive with Uber in India.

You will also receive an Uber-issued cell phone which will have the Uber application installed on it to allow you receive ride requests. However, if you wish to use your own smartphone, it is perfectly fine to return the cell phone.

STEP 6: What to do if Your Vehicle Does Not Fit Uber Requirements

Keep in mind, there is no need to give up if your personal vehicle does not fit the requirements that are necessary for an Uber vehicle—in fact, many people tend to invest in a new car before becoming professional Uber drivers.

However, I would recommend not going overboard when you are purchasing a new car to be used as an Uber vehicle. It is a good idea to select an average but sturdy car that is not a particularly new or fancy model but fits UberBLACK car requirements. Note – See the “Nice to Know” section for due diligence you should probably do, before buying a car specifically for Uber.

STEP 7: Pricing

An UberBLACK driver who owns his car, earns between Rs80,000 ($1400) and Rs120,000($2000) in a month after paying 20% of his earnings to Uber as a technology and service fee.
Uber charges Rs 120- base fare, followed by Rs 12 per km fare.

Nice to Know

UberBLACK was launched in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai and currently seems to operate only in Mumbai.

If you wish to drive with Uber in India, please be aware that you will be utilizing a certain amount of money to pay for gas. If, for example, you earn approximately 1.2 lakhs a month, you will spend about 29,000 Indian rupees (around $440) on gas every month out of that money.

In addition to the afore-mentioned, you have other costs like car maintenance, insurance costs, car depreciation, and Uber royalties.

If you are looking to do proper due diligence before acquiring a car and want to assess the profitability of Uber as a business whether as a one-man business (a sole Uber driver), or as an Entrepreneur with multiple Uber cars in his/her fleet, then download our Uber kit at the top right of the linked page below:

PS:  The investment that you will need to make in order to obtain commercial licensing as well as insurance is typically high, which is why I would suggest the UberBLACK service only for those that wish to become a driver full time and for a long period of time. If you just want to supplement your income, then you might just want to sign up for UberX (If you would like to become an UberX driver go here).

Cities where Uber in india is Available AHMEDABAD, BANGALORE, BHUBANESWAR, CHANDIGARH, CHENNAI, HYDERABAD, INDORE, JAIPUR,  KOCHI, KOLKATA, MUMBAI, MYSORE, NAGPUR, NEW DELHI, PUNE, SURAT, VISAKHAPATNAM.

Learn About AMBER Health

Uber’s business model is applicable to various sectors of the economy. We can see the effect it has had on the gig economy with delivering food, parcels and purchased goods

Amber Health: An Uber-like Emergency Response System in India

Now, a new ambulance service in India AMBER Health, has declared intentions to provide health care in an Uber-like manner.AMBER health The healthcare service has created an app as the foremost platform with which its services would be accessed.

How it Works

Through the AMBER Health app, hospitals will be able to send an ambulance to bring in patients in need of emergency medical care. The hospital gets to notify their emergency rooms and like Uber’s ETA function allows, also track the patient’s movement.

Another interesting part of this service is that it’s not only restricted to emergencies. A patient can use it to get to scheduled appointments, check-ups, for inter-hospital transfer, or even simply to just get home after being discharged from the hospital.

The biggest highlight of the app is that it functions as a healthcare management system. This means users can maintain their medical profile on the app and even set reminders to take pills. Users also have their privacy secured. AMBER healthThey have the reserved authority to decide who sees this information. So you can decide to share the information with an emergency staff or ambulance paramedic – since the information would be very helpful in emergency situations.

What Problem Does This Solve?

India has a teeming population of over 1.3 billion people which invariably puts so much pressure on health providers. The launch of AMBER Health app would help aggregate ambulance supply from government and private hospitals. “We said if you can do this for cabs, why not for ambulances,” says one of AMBER Health’s co-founders, Vinayak Dalmia.

The app also aggregates the emergency room of the hospitals in India as well; patients are able to reach the emergency room in a smarter way. Forbes disclosed that: “ the team is proud of their AMBER Proxy function, which enables an emergency to be triggered on behalf of a patient in India by one of their listed emergency contacts, from anywhere in the world.” This feature will help the elderly or less tech savvy patients be catered for from all over the world since anyone can download the app. “Instantly the patient’s location and medical data gets pushed to the concerned ambulance and hospital,” says Dalmia.

This is definitely an improvement that would transform the healthcare system, not only in India, but also in many other countries if they choose to follow this lead.

Cosying Up In an Uber In India Can Get You Kicked Off The Platform

Taking an Uber in India with your partner will mean you intend to keep your hands to yourself. As Indians continue to embrace ridesharing, Uber in India has introduced a new set of rules to guide drivers and riders. Uber In India

This rule was introduced in response to complaints levied against drivers and riders alike. “That’s no sexual conduct with drivers or fellow riders, no matter what,” emphasized Uber.

Shedding more light on this new development, Times of India reported that other rules were also introduced by Uber in India and they include:

  • No unwanted contact with the driver or fellow passenger after the trip is over
  • No touching or flirting with other people in the car
  • No asking overly personal questions
  • No vomiting due to excessive intake of alcohol.
  • No discrimination: Drivers can’t “discriminate” either, on basis of where the rider is going, or based on the rider’s caste, religion, disability etc.

Drivers’ offences have also been categorized. For example, repeated refusals, cancellations and dip in star ratings are parameters for drivers getting blacklisted, along with a few other actions.

The good news is that a first time offence will not get you kicked off the Uber in India platform but may get you suspended pending an investigation. Hopefully, these new rules bring some calm to the already charged atmosphere surrounding ridesharing in India

Hacker Reveals loophole in Uber App and Gets Rewarded With Free Rides For Life

Evidently it pays to be good. Anand Prakash, a product security engineer in India discovered a loophole within the Uber app
which allows riders complete rides without making payments.

But how did this loophole in the Uber app work?

Detailing how ride payments could be hacked on the Uber app, Anand who also runs an IT blog said, “When a ride is completed a user can either pay cash or charge it to their credit/debit card…but by specifying an invalid payment method for example: abc, xyz etc, I could ride Uber for free.”

According to Telegraph, Anand stated that, “Attackers could have misused this by taking unlimited free rides from their Uber account.”

Before you rush to try this out, Uber has since fixed this gap and yes, you have to keep paying for rides.

To show if and how it works, Anand requested permission from Uber to complete several rides around the U.S and India. He completed these trips and didn’t pay a dime.

Prakash stated he makes a living out of finding security bugs and by being a part of the Uber security program has until now been awarded $13,500 (£11,000) from Uber in bounty rewards
