The transportation giant Uber has introduced a service called UberRUSH. With UberRUSH, you can have a messenger carry your messages and deliver your items. This on-demand delivery service connects businesses and consumers by delivering and picking up packages and is also convenient for individuals who want items delivered to them. We will shed more information on what it’s like delivering for UberRUSH and how businesses and consumers can benefit from an innovative service like UberRUSH,
How Does UberRUSH Work?
This Uber service allows you to have a messenger deliver items and messages to you and for you. This service allows Uber compete in a larger market – giving existing ‘messenger networks’ a run for their money. Users can track your deliveries and share the progress with friends if necessary. The most reliable time frame to use the UberRUSH service is between 8am and 10pm from Monday to Friday.
Businesses like Shopify have integrated this service into their systems hence putting the burden of delivering goods bought from them on another party. Once consumers buy a product and pay for delivery, an UberRush messenger is pinged to effect delivery of goods paid for. Uber insists that messengers will not purchase items for delivery. The primary job of anyone who signs up to be an UberRush messenger is to pickup and make delivery.
How to Use the UberRUSH Service
- Choose the Rush function
- Enter the pickup location,
- Enter the destination,
- Enter the item description,
- Other pertinent information.
An UberRush driver then accepts the job – if they want to.
However, users may NOT send for delivery:
- People or animals of any size
- Alcohol (or any other goods that require identification)
- Illegal items
- Dangerous items (weapons, explosives, flammable, etc.)
- Stolen goods
- Any items for which you do not have permission to send
Delivery partners reserve the right to refuse delivery of any of these items.
You should also know that the ETA function might not work or might malfunction when your messenger uses a subway.

This is definitely a safe procedure that ensures that you will be safe while using this service. Also, Uber has been generous enough to put in place a delivery guarantee policy. The policy states that if an item up to $250 or lesser is lost due to the gross negligence or willful misconduct on the messenger’s part, Uber will take the fall for it. Be aware that this does not involve any of the restricted goods in the list above. To ensure that you are at peace, Uber allows you call your messenger at any time by tapping the arrow next to his / her info at the bottom of the Uber app.
Cancellation and Related Policies
You will have to pay a cancellation fee if a messenger refuses to do your delivery due to issues such as:
- Item being over the recommended size or weight,
- It is a prohibited item
- Asking a messenger to purchase an item.
Uber has already indicated that messengers reserve the right to refuse to accept any item at their sole discretion. Uber also has a chain of custody policy. This policy states that there must be someone at the delivery address to receive your item(s). In order to complete delivery, messenger must text requester indicating that the item has been dropped off, and this text must include the name of the recipient. If you want to alter this procedure, you are required to send a text message indicating no recipient is necessary. If no one is available at the delivery address and chain of custody has not been duly altered, the messenger returns item(s) and bills requester [you] pays full delivery fare + a cancellation fee.
Consumers are charged per delivery depending on factors like location and distance. Delivery costs range from $5 – $7 for the first mile, then customers are charged an extra fee of $2 to $4 per extra mile. UberRush messengers typically receive 75% to 80% of the total delivery fee.
